Why use this trading process? - KFL uses this trading process because teams are allowed to trade draft picks during the off-season and players most of the year. It has been updated and streamlined over 5 years to make it more ordered and organized. Since KFL can not be online 24 hours a day to approve and send out emails. This sets up guidelines so there is no question on when and how trades are accepted, reviewed and approved.
This process will not put any undue burden on any team owner. Trades will still be accepted, reviewed and approved like they have been in the past. Trades will just be accepted, reviewed and approved in a more organized fashion. This process will not prevent teams from trading. Team owners just need to make sure that if they want certain players in their starting roster or quickly on their team. That they be aware of the exact deadlines and guidelines to process the trade quickly.
Basically, any trade accepted less than 48 hours before the first game of the week will not be approved.
Glancing at the rules and process below may look complicated at first. But, is not that hard. Team owners just have to accept the trade, post and maintain communication with the other team you are trading with. Thats it. The process below covers all the little details to keep trading fair and fun for all. And is a breeze after you get the hang of it.

Basic Trading Process - (ACCEPTED, REVIEWED, APPROVED). Trading Includes trading of players and draft picks. Teams Owners can trade in many ways. The most basic way is to just submit a trade at the Fantasy League Manager (FLM) to get the trading process started.
For a more fun and challenging experience in trading is to communicate with the other owner one-on-one by the Official Board, FLM Board, I.M, Email, ect. When you finalize your trade talks with another team, please follow the steps below to have your trade completed.
STEP #1: ACCEPTED - Trades have to be submitted and accepted at your FLM first by the teams involved in the trade. That will generate an automatic FIRST email showing which teams, players and draft picks (if any) that are in the Pending trade, which is sent to the league, teams involved in the trade and commish.
- NOTE: Team Owners should start to review the trade when they receive this first email notification. Even before the second email is sent out Officially confirming the traded players and/or draft picks (explained more below.)
- Second, both teams involved in the trade must post and confirm the trade at your OFFICIAL MESSAGE BOARD within 48 hours of the first email notification or it will be canceled and the process will have to start over. This is to prevent long delays in posting, to better see how a trade will turn out.
- Trades that are ACCEPTED by team owners should stay on your team page until APPROVED by the commish. You only have to accept trades once. KFL receives all emails. See section below on Canceling a Trade if you have accepted one by accident.
- All trades accepted will have 48 hours for review during the in-season. (In-season is from after the draft up to 1 week before the fantasy playoffs begin.)
- All trades accepted will have 7 days for review during the off-season. (Off-season is 2 weeks after the keeper deadline up to 1 week before the draft.)
STEP #2: DRAFT PICKS? - When KFL receives the first email notification. KFL will then check to see if any draft picks are included in the trade. Teams can include draft picks in trades during the off-season by clicking on the draft pick they want to trade, just like players and then submitting it. Draft picks that teams can trade are listed under your player roster on the Make Trade page (again, off-season only and after the draft order is created).
- If DRAFT PICKS ARE INCLUDED in the trade, both teams should post the trade with draft picks at your leagues Official Message Board for Trading. This will ensure that both owners are aware of the traded draft picks. And the league has a place to view and discuss the traded picks if need be and is documented to prevent any issues after the trade has gone through the review process and has been approved by KFL.
- Both teams involved in the trade must post and confirm a trade with draft picks within 48 hours of the first email notification or post for the trade or it will be canceled and the process will have to start over. This is to prevent long delays in posting, to better see how a trade will turn out.
STEP #3: REVIEW - If draft picks are included in the trade or not. Trades accepted between 9am and 5pm Central and the SECOND email (an email that officially confirms players and/or draft picks traded) will be sent out. This is done manually, and depending on the time of the working day, it may take slightly more time for us to receive and respond to it.
But, the accepted trade time will still reflect the time of the 2nd post confirming the trade at the official board. This is why it is important to start reviewing trades when you receive the first trade email. Because there is a slight delay from the 1st email and 2nd emails.
EXAMPLE. The first automatic email was received at 9am central time. One team posts the trade at the official trading board. And the second owner replies to the post confirming it at 12 noon central. KFL is then able to respond to and send out the second email at 5pm central. But, the Trade Accepted Time will be 12 noon central. The time of the 2nd post.
- Trades accepted after 5pm Central and the second email verification will be sent out the next day after 9am Central. Even though the second email is sent the next morning it will again reflect the time it was replied to by the second team at the official board.
- Please keep in mind the first email sent out is a NOTICE that a trade has been accepted and team owners should then start to look at and review it. The second email is to OFFICIALLY CONFIRM the traded players and/or draft picks and is within the rules and guidelines of KFL. So, teams should start to review trades when they receive the first email to make sure teams are reviewing the trade in a timely manner.
STEP #4: APPROVE - Trades that are to be APPROVED between 9am and 5pm Central has to be done manually also and may not be approved at the exact moment the review period is over. KFL has to do this manually so the trade may actually be APPROVED a short time after. Due to the fact that KFL can not be online ALL the time. But rest assured that all trades that pass the review process in time will be approved as quickly as possible and before any major deadline, such as lineups in-season.
- Trades that are to be approved after 5pm central will be approved the following day after 9am Central. Note: Any lineup changes can be sent to the commish for the upcoming week if teams are unable to set them because of the timing of the trade approval.
- Trades that are to be approved after the first game of the current week has started will be approved after the current week is over. This will prevent the traded players from being on both teams starting rosters.

IMPORTANT RULES
Trading Deadlines - Trading players and draft picks continue all year long EXCEPT during the following periods. See your Leagues Schedule for exact dates and upcoming deadlines.
- All trading will stop 1 week before the league playoffs and continue 2 weeks after the keeper deadline. This will allow KFL time to update rosters by dropping non-keeper players and to create the Draft Order. Which is done manually by the commish.
- All trading will stop 1 week before any type of draft and may continue after the draft has ended.
- After Keeper Deadline teams can not trade if keepers are not posted.
- Draft Picks can only be traded during the off season (2 weeks after keeper deadline up to 1 week before the draft).
Starting Lineups After Trades Are Approved - Before trades are completed and approved the teams involved in the trade need to adjust their starting rosters for the upcoming week accordingly. Lineups are automatically carried over and do not reflect trades. Any player(s) Acquired through a trade will not be automatically inserted into the starting lineup. And any player traded that was in a starting lineup will be removed.
- The deadline to set a starting roster is game-time for each game. Be aware that teams MAY not be able to start another player in that starting roster spot if all games have started. It is in each teams best interest to Start a CORRECT Lineup as soon as possible ahead of time with this in mind.
Trading Draft Picks - Traded Players and Draft Picks from teams that are no longer in a league will still be valid.
- Only the upcoming seasons draft picks can be traded and only during the off-season
Vetoing Trades - 4 or more team owner objections to a trade will veto a it in a 10 team league. 5 or more team owner objections to a trade will veto a it in a 12 team league. Keeper Fantasy Leagues will not intervene in any trades.
- Teams can veto trades by emailing the commish first and then posting at their official trade forum. Both are recommended, plus emailing your league to discuss the trade.
Canceling or Canceled Trades - After a trade has been accepted by both teams and KFL sends out the second email. The trade WILL BE PROCESSED after the trade review period, even if one of the teams cancel the trade on their team page. If trades are being constantly canceled by teams, there may be penalties or warnings issued.
- Both teams have to post at the official board. This eliminates all mistakes team owners may make by accident. Such as proposing or accepting trades. If teams make a mistake now. Just go to Pending and cancel it and email KFL and the other team owner that it was a mistake.
Not Receiving Emails - To ensure delivery of our email(s), please add our email address to your address book, spam filter "whitelist", or tell your company's IT group to allow this address to pass through any filtering software they may have set up.
