Luol Deng, Zach Randolph Trade Opinion?
Question from: Michael Glickman

Question - My friends and I play in a 12-team, head to head style, fantasy hoops league. Recently a trade was completed that we would like an objective opinion on.

Luol Deng was traded for Zach Randolph. The owner said he basically just liked Deng and his upside better and felt that Randolph only helped him in 2 categories. Given the size and format of the league, should this trade be allowed to stand?

Also, we are looking to move our league away from Yahoo next year because of the lack of a 3rd party trade review feature. Would we be able to create our own private league using your site? What are the associated costs, customization features, etc. Thank you very much for your help.

Answer - I see no reason to object this trade. It isn't totally one-sided, so I don't think it should be protested or really has any grounds for protest. Plus, with 12 teams, and if it is a keeper-style league (which I am guessing it is), than there is no reason to think Deng does not have more up-side than Randolph. Plus, with Randolph's always-present off-court troubles, who knows when he might get suspended again.

Answer - I am a bit confused about this deal. If this is someone looking for a keeper, he probably could have worked a package for a better keeper than Luol Deng. I would sure hope that this isn't a trade that he feels Deng will help him this year. Luol Deng's "upside" doesn't put him any higher than Zach Randolph now or in the future. This trade puzzles me a bit.
